Our Origin Story

In 2022, a conversation between co-founders Chizyapo Chiponda and Tehillah sparked the idea of creating an art and comic platform that would shine a spotlight on African, particularly Zambian, creators. At the core of our vision was a commitment to fostering a thriving comic book community. As we embarked on this journey, serendipity brought Mthandazo Siziba, a friend who shared our mission, into the fold. Together, we united our efforts, forging ahead with a determination to make our dream a reality. We engaged in extensive brainstorming sessions, exploring various business models that would both support creators and resonate with our audience. After much consideration, we arrived at a multifaceted approach, encompassing subscriptions, free access to select titles, and the sale of physical volumes. Our objective was to create an inclusive space where emerging voices could be heard, and unique narratives could flourish, even those that might not find a platform elsewhere. Our initial steps involved curating compelling stories and making them accessible on our platform. We understood the importance of championing narratives that may not receive the recognition they deserved on other platforms. However, our ultimate ambition reaches far beyond these beginnings. We aim to become a global hub for diverse stories, providing aspiring comic authors with an alternative and sustainable source of income.
